I remember hating the Barbarians from my DM's perch back in the day. But I couldn't remember why. I alway sthought it was those awful D12 hit points. Now I know the real reason! Thanks for the insight.

I agree, tom, but before researching this I thought it was much worse. I thought it was XP divided by 100 not 1000. That would've killed off an entire generation of Rhizians if so!

Yikes!

I admit we played fast and loose with a lot of rules (and would do so again today if still playing), but the whole idea that one needed a separate 'class' to fill what I always thought was just a 'role-playing' choice, was rather galling. But that doesn't mean we were consistent either. I loved the Cavalier for some reason, and one could make an even better argument that it should have just been a fighter on a horse with a lance....
